W.J. Weissenbruch

W.J. Weissenbruch The Hague 1864-1941 Bloemendaal (Aerdenhout). The painter Willem J. Weissenbruch was born in 1864 in The Hague. He followed in the footsteps of his teacher and father, the Hague School painter H.J. Weissenbruch. He also continued his training at the Academy in The Hague under the direction of Fridolin Becker. The work of W.J. Weissenbruch can be recognized by the loose impressionist style that is so characteristic of him. He mainly painted wide landscapes, often with water. He also made harbor and beach views and some still lifes.
